Lot 3.1: Relaxed Macnab

Bought for:
£1,250
Item available until:20 May 2022 12:00:00 BST (item sold)

Presented by Anne Gray (Director Scotland, Heather Trust), Tweedhill and College Valley Estate:

For two people who enjoy the thrill of a challenge but at a more leisurely pace, take on a relaxed macnab over the August bank holiday weekend -

1 day at Tweedhill to catch a salmon (Saturday 27th August)

1 day at College Valley to shoot a brace of grouse and a roe buck (Monday 29th August)

3 nights' accommodation in the beautiful Islestone Cottage, Berwick Upon Tweed (Friday 26th to Monday 29th August)

Important note: If the Tweed is unfishable, the salmon part of the deal will not be possible.  Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done about this in advance as it is a safety thing. Flooded water is dangerous and it is the ghillie’s decision. The successful bidder should contact the ghillie the night before or that morning to check.

Ends in:06 May 2022 12:00:00 BST (bidding ended)

Presented by Sir Hugh Blackett, Matfen Estates:

Enjoy the week beginning Friday 30th September in Aydon Castle Cottage. A two bedroom holiday cottage near Corbridge, Northumberland.

"A hidden gem, hugged by a lush woodland setting and the elegant fortifications of 13th Century Aydon Castle, this will be a breath of fresh air for those seeking a tranquil countryside getaway.
A cosy country Northumbrian cottage offering a tranquil retreat for rest and relaxation
Tucked away off the beaten track, yet just 3 miles from the picturesque village of Corbridge, this two bedroom cottage sits in a prime spot for soaking up the scenery and history of this area.

The Northumbrian stone cottage exterior opens up into a classic two down, two up configuration which is wonderfully toasty, heated by an efficient sustainable ground source heat pump.

The sitting room has a cosy country feel, with warm furnishings in tweed and linen, framed by a traditional stone inglenook fireplace with a large wood burning stove for those lazy days when throwing another log on the fire sounds like a good plan.

This leads into a well-equipped kitchen with integrated appliances, extending into a sunroom to the rear of the cottage which is ideal for snoozing dogs or a crisp evening Prosecco when the temperature starts to rise.

Upstairs, the cottage has two bedrooms, one with king size bed and the other a twin bedroom with zip and link beds for added flexibility for adults and families, along with a shared family bathroom. Both bedrooms benefit from wonderful front-facing views towards the fortified manor house of Aydon Castle.

The cottage is semi-detached with an enclosed lawned garden to the front and the side of the property.  Aydon Castle, owned by English Heritage, sits directly opposite for a fascinating insight into its rich history, while the walled orchard offers a perfect spot for a summer picnic. Aydon Castle also welcomes dogs which is an added bonus, while a tranquil countryside trail will lead you into the pretty village of Corbridge when an afternoon of fresh country air beckons."
