Two pairs of lovely country socks in Sedge Green and Burnt Orange. The perfect country socks for Wellington boots. These fabulous knee length socks are ribbed with an in-built cushioned sole and hand linked toe seams, for extra comfort. They are lightweight and warm, and provide a great layer of high performance insulation. They are a soft as cashmere to wear, but far more hardwearing and built to last.

An exciting experience of three small grouse drives in spectacular mountain and coastal scenery on the Glenrinnes Estate and Carron Bridge Estate on Speyside. Hosted by Dick Bartlett on British Moorlands' 2 demonstration moors where you can see how innovative techniques, like automatic trap checking and fully mechanised habitat management, have restored viable grouse shooting and biodiversity to formerly unmanaged moorland, without the usual high costs. Expected daily bag about ten brace. Location is Glenrinnes Estate and Carron Bridge Estate on Speyside.

Dates to be advised between mid September to mid November - may be held over if a bad grouse year.

Fishing is let over the Upper and Lower Beats of the Edzell Water (West Bank only) on the River North Esk. The middle beat is not included. There are ten named pools. The upper beat extends from below the Gannochy Bridge on the Fettercairn Road to the Suspension Bridge by Edzell Village and the Lower Beat runs from the top of the Lyn Martin Pool down to the confluence of the North Esk and the West Water.

This is an exclusive, private beat on the lower Nith, offering excellent fishing in all water conditions. There are approximately 800 metres of double bank fishing some 5 miles north of Dumfries. Copies of the rules will be issued to the successful bidder along with the tickets. Please note catches are limited to two salmon/grilse and two sea trout in any one day. Thereafter, anglers must exercise “catch and release”. Catch and release is however very much encouraged as part of the Fishery Board’s drive towards conservation. Also, when the river is below the water level markers, fly fishing only is allowed. A part-time Ghillie is available if required.

The Nith offers an excellent choice of angling for Salmon and Sea Trout and is arguably the most productive of the Solway rivers. This is an opportunity to fish an exclusive private beat on both banks near to Holywood, some 2 miles upstream of Dumfries.

At 6085 yards, over relatively level terrain, the course provides a good test for all golfers and is friendly to those of mature years. Thornhill is a picturesque village in Mid Nithsdale, Dumfries and Galloway. The Golf Club was established in 1893 as a 9 hole course and was extended to 18 holes in 1979.

Take a mornings trip from Lockerbie/Dumfries out to Galloway Forest where two people can join the driver on his journey.

During the day you will get to experience the whole process of moving timber out of this vast forest. All the trucks are fitted with their own cranes and you will see the skill required to load and move the logs over very fragile forest roads.

John Miller Limited operate over 100 trucks from their head office at Lockerbie. You will also get a visit to this site where you can see the scale of this type of operation.

If one of the party has some HGV experience then they would possibly be able to drive the empty truck in the loading area!!

The company has recently been awarded Scotland Top Trailer Fleet 2017 Transport News Scottish Rewards which will be presented to at them at an award ceremony Glasgow on 4th November 2017.

The logging trip is to be taken in the months of summer at a weekend by arrangement with the donor.
